Low back pain is experience by 80 percent of people at some point in their lifetime. Many patients come in and remember an event where they were lifting a heavy object and felt something give in their lower back. Other patients experience a low back injury playing sports such as hockey, basketball, and gymnastics. Some patients do not remember how their low back pain injury occurred. Usually this is due to an older injury as a child where they fell from a high place, or some other childhood event that has been forgotten. Other times patient may have injured it due to wear and tear from a job where lifting was required. Sometimes the injuries occur due to a patient having a shorter leg on one side than the other. It is important to take xrays to diagnose low back pain and where the low back pain is coming from.
Low Back Injuries can lead to issues in between the bones of the spine where the disc is located. The disc acts as a shock absorber between the bones. When this is injured often a bulging disc, or herniated disc can occur which can lead to leg pain and sciatica. Sciatica is a shock like pain that runs down the entire leg. Some other symptoms of disc issues are numbness in the legs, pins and needles in the feet, and weakness in the legs. If this is not taken care of it can lead to degeneration and arthritis of the spine. Chiropractors that twist and don't adjust specific areas of the spine can cause more issues to the disc. Make sure you find a chiropractor who uses xrays, and adjusts the spine without twisting.
